Mental Health Tips
RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships that weather crises are those in which the couple commonly talks about "the relationship" as an entity in and of itself. This is a powerful tool. Then the couple can openly discuss the strengths and vulnerabilities of the relationship. They can express feelings, be clear when needs are not being met and dialogue with each other regarding steps that need to be taken to correct a problem. A couple who addresses only day-to-day issues, and fails to address the dynamics and health of the relationship frequently lacks the resilience needed to deal effectively with crisis.

DEPRESSION
Depression signs may include sadness and irritability, poor memory and concentration, increased or decreased appetite and pulling away from people and activities that were previously enjoyed. These symptoms can often be reversed by exercise, increasing social involvement, improved stress management and avoiding alcohol. Seek professional help for these symptoms if they persist and work or family life is disrupted. In cases of potential for suicide, inability to function, and/or significant emotional pain, medications should be considered
